CatRescue
Volunteer Jobs Board - help
us help them!
Volunteers are the lifeblood of
CatRescue - it's not just
managing cats
CatRescue's vision is to build a
network of rehoming around NSW,
rescue cats, reduce the deaths
in pounds and make the system
work better for council and
community. But we cant do this
alone, we need people who can
take on small but vital
volunteer jobs to help us
continue to grow. On this page
you can simply join our mailing
list, or you can volunteer your
services to help. It can be only
1 day a month or 1 hour a week.
But we really need your help.
Many of these roles are ideal
for office workers doing admin,
mums at home, people with cars
or people who want to get more
hands on. All of these roles
save lives.
Urgent - cleaners and
feeders
-
Morning (10am) and
Evening (6pm) weekday shifts
-
Saturday and Sunday
shifts
-
Gladesville Location
-
Very hands on - 2 hours
roughly each shift
-
One day per week
-
Think about it first,
it's a hard manual job
-
Reliable people needed
Every
morning and every night we
clean the central housing
facility. This is a central
area used between foster
carers and rehomers. We need
reliable rostered people who
can learn about the process
we go through and then clean
and feed roughly 10 cages.
During that time they also
get to have a good look at
the cats and make sure they
are OK.
We need
reliable people who will
complete the cleaning tasks
needed before they chat and
play with the cats, as
anything else will just slow
down the overall process. If
you'd like to really get
stuck in and get your hands
dirty then this is an
excellent and rewarding job
for you. You will need to be
able to lift the odd box,
bend down a lot and deal
with litter and food. Not
for the squeamish or tired.

Transporters - many needed,
a life saving link!
-
Rostered role, 2 hours per
week depending on season
The VetRescue program survives because we can rapidly take
abandoned kittens from pounds and shelters to Vets for rehoming. Essential to
this program at the VetRescue transporters. Transporters are usually required
once a week to pickup kittens and deliver them to the vet they are attached to.
They will need some basic animal knowledge as well as a friendly demeanour for
dealing with vets and general public.
The times
we usually drive are Friday
afternoon (2:30-4:30) North
Rocks to Gladesville, Saturday
Morning Gladesville to Metro,
and odd times in the week (after
hours) depending on need.

Handy Person - odds jobs
-
Random - normally
Weekends.
There is
a whole bunch of small and
odd jobs that need doing
around the shelter in order
to keep it ship shape. We
could kinda fudge it
ourselves but it's time we
dont have and we probably
dont know what we are doing.
things like fixing screens
that cats have removed,
fixing hinges, fixing
doors.. All of it takes
time. If you have a knack
for fixing things it may be
a very short job, but we
could use your help.

Filmmaker/Journalist/Reporter

Big one off project, loads
of fun!
The
CatRescue story "from rescue
to rehome" is excellent for
news, the internet and the
real world. The only way
people can truly appreciate
it is to live and breathe
the excitement and passion
we feel, but equally share
the downs and sadness. We
invite any amateur video or
student film people to come
and film this program and
help us develop the story.

things down online, forms,

hugely important to us and take
up a LOT of our time away from
the cats. We need people who are
OK to do the occasional piece of
internet and paper based work to
"find stuff" we need. You need
to be a web person who is good
at working out and solving
problems. You may need to make

Pet of the week program
manager - TAKEN!
-
2-4hrs per week, can be done
at a computer in an office
or at home.
The Cat of the week program
manager has a very important
role at CatRescue. The focus
cat articles in newspapers
drive significant adult cat
traffic back to our shelters
and help us rehome. In one
weekend, one "Pet of the
Week" ad drove 20 calls and
7 rehomes. The program
manager's role is to write a
brief article on a cat in
care, get a recent photo and
to send this article out via
email to a number of press
contacts.
This needs to be done every
week, once a week, without
fail, to our media contacts
list so we need someone who
is organised and happy with
writing. Please email

PetRescue Database and photo
updater taken!
-
2-4hrs per week, online and
funky
PetRescue
is our vehicle for placing
ad's up on the internet for
cats. We need to update it
regularly with new cats and
animals that come through,
directly from the posters
that we develop of the cats
that we have.
This role
involves trusting people
with our access codes and
asking that they work
independantly putting up the
right information and
chasing us for pictures and
details. Double funky if you
live in the area and can
come over and take pics but
not necessary if you cant.
We need you.

Message and task delegator
Taken
-
30 mins per day, shared
role. can be done remotely,
in an office. Will require a
computer with online access
CatRescue's message bank
gets about 10 calls a day
and we arent always there to
get them, and
we need to divert and manage
these calls rapidly to
ensure that we are able to rehome, educate and provide
appropriate attention to
people in need.
You
dont need to return the
calls - just to farm them
out to people who can!
Our
message bank is online via
email - so we try to read
them about 3pm each day then
assign them to people from
the volunteer teams. It
could be a new home! It
could be a lost cat,
it could be a crazy old man
who lives in a shack!
Everything's possible on the
catrescue message bank!
This
will require someone with a
computer with a sound
card/speaker who is good at
recognising and delegating
tasks via email to the
people in the volunteers
groups. Initially you will
not be required to return
calls, just to email and
divert. email
