CatRescue is a network of normal every day people . . like you,
from all walks of life, who give up space in our own homes to
rescue and rehabilitate abandoned and neglected animals.
We are more than 100 foster carers who foster 2-4 cats through
to a new home and through volunteers that feed, clean and
transport animals from rescue situations through to a final
home. We never overcrowd and we always focus on the wellbeing of
the animals and humans.
CatRescue is no kill, but we understand that this also brings
heightened responsibility for the number of animals and capacity
to effectively manage. For that reason we say no often to people
who wish to abandon an animal and try and assist them through
the rehoming process.
We are just like you. Volunteers don't get paid or funded, we
are all volunteers. Equally, we fund the rescues and treatment
though our own pockets and donations. You can do this too. We
don't exclude anyone.
We believe in engaging with the entire community, not just
animal welfare, we do this by running innovative and interactive
marketing and awareness programs throughout Sydney. We are 100%
focused on this goal and we will change the world so that
animals do not die needlessly through man's thoughtlessness.
How we are funded - Funding comes from the CatRescue management
team and donations from the general public. We would like to
thank our bosses in our real jobs for keeping us on despite all
the cat hair and scratches. All CatRescue staff are voluntary. A
further 10% comes from appeals and trees that grow in the yard.

Legal and Legislation
|
|

|
CatRescue
is assisted by the 3rd largest Law firm in Australia
and the NSW Law Society Animal Rights group. This includes some
of the finest legal minds in Australia from top
law firms with a focus on animal rights and the law to provide
better quality of life and standards of care for animals.
As a group that has such a high
public face and is driving legal and industry change it is
prudent to have smart advice in this area. Rescuing
crosses many areas of law, from commercial and consumer through
to legislative. We are very grateful for this support.

Marketing, communications and logistics
|
|

|
Rachel -
Press, pet of the week and Media relations. Rachel
works at a tier one Law firm by day and is a jazz singer by night
in the Sydney
circuit. She was first introduced to CatRescue when saving a cat
from a "crowded house" in the 44 degree heatwave, and
now has taken up the vital role of media and pet of the week
program manager. Rachel rocks and has been extremely valuable in
the groups image development.

|

|
Jac - Video and Television
expert. Jac is the managing director of JAC Production,
and has worked on most commercial TV shows over the last 10 years
as well as music videos, sport coverage and commercials. Now she
also tries to point a video camera at any cat willing to stay
moderately still enough to video, advertising adoptable cats for
CatRescue on YouTube. She is barely in control of a household
that includes two spoiled, once-rescued cats that quite frankly
own the joint.
|
|

|
Sarah
Barratt - advertising and photography
Sarah found CatRescue when she needed help with a number of stray
cats in her area after keeping a pregnant one for herself. She
stuck around and now helps with the taking of the impossible
"get me at my best side" cat photos. In addition she
updates our listings on Petrescue. Some of the most amazing cat
photo's we have seen have been created by Sarah and her trusty
Sony!
|
|

|
Sonja
Holness - Communications.
One of the hardest roles at CatRescue is managing
the sheer weight of public enquiry we receive every day. We could
not do this without the daily support of Sonja, who takes the
many calls we receive and works out what to do with them.
Without Sonja, we would not be
able to find homes for so many cats!
|
|

|
Fern -
Director of traffic and Figurehead. Much can
be said about Fern, she's been assisting CatRescue in managing
the day today distribution of food to animals and colony groups
for over a year now.
Fern has been the CatRescue
figurehead for some time now, and Fern was a prime motivation to
starting CatRescue in the first place. We love Fern, she has a
big fan club and a lot of friends!

SuperCarers and Program Managers
|
|

|
Joanne
and Jarrod Holmes - SuperCarers, Joanne Holmes has been
with CatRescue for "ages now" and has been a major carer,
sponsor and help when we truly need it. We would not have this
organisation without Joanne and Jarrod's help. Jarrod and Joanes
fearless detirmination to rescue animals has led them into often
risky situations, which they face head on. Nothing stops them
from this mission. We are very grateful to have them onboard.
|
|

|
Jackie -
SuperCarer, corporate engagement manager and minder of the very
weird cats. Jacquie works at a Tier one professional services
firm and has been instrumental in growing our image in the
corporate world. Jacquie has also taken in a number of the
"Funky Cats" with cross eyes and other cool issues!
"Mate, if I win $21m on the lotto, we'll have one hell of a
shelter"
|
|

all the food kept going missing"
|
