FAQ
What does CatRescue actually do?
CatRescue is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals from pounds, and when resources permit, we provide care for stray animals. In addition, we offer subsidised desexing and microchipping, advice to people experiencing animal problems, plus we campaign for legislative and cultural change to achieve greater representation for animals and their needs.

Where do our rescued cats and kittens come from?
We rescue the majority of our cats and kittens from death row in Sydney pounds. When resources permit, we also take in friendly strays who have been found living on the street. Unfortunately CatRescue simply does not have the capacity to take surrendered animals from people who no longer want their pets.
Is CatRescue really No-Kill?
Yes, every animal we rescue is provided with veterinary treatment and a safe, loving foster home until they are adopted regardless of the cost or time it takes for this to occur.
Can I adopt a cat or a kitten?
Yes! We have many beautiful cats and kittens available for adoption right now who have been rescued from death row in pounds. Each animal we rehome enables us to continue rescuing. Please click here to view our current list.
How much does it cost to adopt a cat or a kitten?
Catrescue does not believe that animals can be sold or bought. Instead there is an adoption fee of $100 per cat or kitten, which helps us to cover the desexing, vaccination and microchipping costs.
Can I adopt a single kitten?
While we prefer to rehome kittens in a pair we also consider, in special circumstances, the rehoming of individual kittens.
Does CatRescue have a shelter?
No, we have a network of trained volunteer foster carers across sydney who provide temporary care for one to two cats / kittens until they have been adopted.
Can I become a foster carer?
Yes! Click here for information on what is involved with foster caring, or email us at info@catrescue.com.au with any additional questions, then simply fill in the foster carer form and we will contact you ASAP.
Does CatRescue accept donations?

We also always need donations of cat food, carry boxes, toys and basically anything else that will assist us in rescuing and rehoming cats and kittens. Please click here to make a donation.
