The Geelong Cats Football Club is considered to be one of the oldest football clubs in the world having been formed in 1859. The club’s history dates as far back as its foundation and they have made their mark in the Australian football history. But however great were the past members, it is up to today’s generation to keep the club’s good name and status. Let’s get to know some of their current members.
Scott is the current premier AFL coach for the Cats. He is also a former Australian rules football player in the Australian Football League. He is best known for his dual membership with the Brisbane Lions and the Geelong Football Club.
Shane O’Bree is the present assistant coach for the team. He was once a professional Australian rules football player too. He had made his name by playing a total of 246 AFL matches. He played for both the Collingwood Football Club and the Brisbane Lions. He retired in 2011 and decided to join the Gold Coast Suns as a midfield assistant coach for their inaugural season in the AFL. However, by the end of the 2012 season, he moved back to Victoria and became the Cat’s midfield stoppage assistant coach.
Harry Taylor is a notable Australian rules football player for the Geelong Football Club. He was initially drafted for the said team in 2007 which took the Australian football world by surprise due to his age. He made his debut with the team in the first round of the 2008 NAB Cup against Melbourne. He gave an excellent display of defensive tactics during the game which made him quite noticeable.
Dangerfield is another talented player for the club who made his debut with them in the opening round of the 2016 season. Prior to Geelong, he played for the Adelaide Football Club between 2008 and 2015. This 27 year old star is also the winner of the 2016 Brownlow Medal. His talent and good looks made him one of Australia’s favorites.
